BIOGRAPHY
Hello Everyone and Welcome,
My name is Veronica Silk and I am a dancer, choreographer, performer, and educator from Boston, Massachusetts. I moved to Central Florida in high school where I received my formal dance training from Osceola County School of the Arts, under the direction of Nealya Brunson and Tad Williams. My professional dance journey launched in high school, when I was hired as a character performer at Walt Disney World. I was privileged to work for that company for 4 years. I moved to Miami, FL in 2008 continuing my studies at New World School of the Arts. This institution helped shape me into the artist I am today, and for that I am forever grateful. During my time at New World I had the opportunity to perform in New York, Puerto Rico, San Francisco, and Prague. I graduated New World School of the Arts earning my Bachelor of Fine Arts degree, Summa Cum Laude, from the University of Florida in April of 2012.

A few months after graduating college I had the honor of working with Augusto Soledade Brazzdance, a Contemporary/Afro-Brazilian company based in Miami, FL, for three seasons. Brazzdance was another stepping stone in my life. I was able to dive into the beautiful repertory works of this company and perform in Brazil at the Vivadanca Festival as well as work my way up to assistant rehearsal director. The company had a residency at the African Heritage Cultural Arts Center where we worked closely with the underprivileged youth in the community . My time in Miami proved to be fruitful. I was blessed with the opportunity to perform at the world renowned art festival, Art Basel, hosted in Miami each year, The Adrienne Arsht Center, The Colony Theater, and The South Dade Cultural Arts Center.
In 2015 I moved to Atlanta where I became a freelance artist, and quickly started gaining traction in the Atlanta dance community. Some of the companies I have had the privilege of working with include: Atlanta Dance Collective, Dawn Axam Dance Theater Experience, Dance Canvas, Black Nativity, and The Atlanta Opera. I have also had the privilege of premiering two original works; Powered Virtue at Atlanta Dance Collective's 2017 annual spring show and The Deception of Eden recently premiered at FemmeFest in February of 2019.
Dancing has a afforded me opportunities that seldom few ever get to experience. I am blessed to have performed works choreographed by Robert Battle, Anna Sokolow, Peter London, Augusto Soledade, Martha Graham, Dawn Axam, Victor Jackson and Lonnie Davis. I am also honored to have worked directly with Jim May, Darshaun Buhler, Denise Vale, Carl Flink, Ryan McNamera, Robert Conor and Dev Hynes.

I have been able to channel all of my incredible dance experiences into my teaching. Everyday I strive to impart the wisdom I have learned onto my students at Woodward Academy located in College Park, GA where I am the Director of Middle School Dance. When I am not at Woodward I spend my time as the Director of the Teens and Senior Competition Division at Just Dance Studio in Douglasville, GA.
It is my hope to continue to grow and thrive as both an artist and educator making sure to bring artistic integrity, professionalism, and energetic personality to dance studios, educational institutions and professional dance companies world wide. My passion for dance has allowed me to travel, perform, teach and choreograph and I am extremely humbled and thankful for the many opportunities that I have been blessed with. My goal now is to keep inspiring the youth that with hard work, technique, and dedication anything is possible.
